About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.  I am a sailor, kayaker, hiker, biker, snowshoer, etc. and love the out of doors. Every season has something to offer. I am incredibly blessed with an absolutely marvelous daughter and a wonderful son-in-law. I frequently travel down state to spend time with them and my three grandchildren, 14, 12, and 8. What a gift to have them in my life. They are my greatest teachers. I like living in Traverse City and see this as my home for the rest of my life. I like the climate and enjoy all seasons. Each has something to offer. I am good at fixing things and like to work on projects around the house and on my boat. I have done carpentry, plumbing, wiring, tiling, painting and most everything that has to do with keeping a house in shape.

My Approach to Counseling

I am liberal and progressive in my approach to life.  I am not a practicing Buddhist but  am very interested in Buddhism, Buddhist Philosophy, and Eastern thought and practices in general.  Sincerity and Integrity are important to me as is treating others with respect. I try to approach life with mindfulness and to be present in my dealings with my world.  Gandhi said “Be the change you want to see in the world”. It all starts with us and with the person(s) we are with at the moment. Most would describe me as easygoing, mellow, kind, caring, sensitive, warm, friendly, engaging, etc. It is my hope that people feel a little better about themselves after having spent time with me. I like spending time with friends and family but also enjoy alone time.  My life is busy but I welcome the chance for new adventures and experiences. I enjoy many kinds of music and especially like Blues. I spend a lot of time tweaking my iTunes and listening to music in the car. I love any excuse to build an Excel spreadsheet. I enjoy private practice and feel good about the work I do.  My life is more full because of my clients.  I look forward to meeting and working with you.
